Gabbard Dismisses Two Key Intelligence Officials Amidst Controversy

Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has relieved Mike Collins and Maria Langan-Riekhof from their positions at the National Intelligence Council, the pivotal analytical group tasked with evaluating the primary dangers threatening the United States.
The decision was confirmed by a spokesperson on Tuesday, as Gabbard intensifies her efforts to eliminate what she perceives as the politicization of intelligence and confronts media leaks, actions critics claim are depleting essential expertise.
Jonathan Panikoff, an ex-intelligence officer familiar with Collins and Langan-Riekhof, praised Collins as an exceptional professional with a deep understanding of China and described Langan-Riekhof as a strategic thinker with remarkable analytical skills.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence stated, "The Director is collaborating with President Trump to cease the weaponization and politicization of the Intelligence Community."
Attempts to contact Collins and Langan-Riekhof through intermediaries were made, as direct contact information was not readily available.
These dismissals follow the release of a declassified NIC evaluation regarding the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, which contradicted a key argument of the Trump administration concerning the Alien Enemies Act, sparking an investigation by Gabbard.
Gabbard criticized media outlets for distorting intelligence reports, accusing them of undermining the President's agenda to ensure American safety.
The connection between these incidents remains unclear, yet Gabbard's stringent stance on unauthorized media disclosures is a central component of her broader mission to depoliticize the intelligence sector.
In a recent conversation with conservative podcaster Megyn Kelly, Gabbard disclosed ongoing internal investigations into unauthorized media disclosures, asserting that three cases have been forwarded to the Department of Justice for possible legal action.
Gabbard expressed, "What they are doing is undermining our democracy by claiming they know better than the majority of Americans who elected this President. Accountability can only be achieved through diligent investigations."
